More about Tony DiThomas

Tony was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, a small community northwest of Pittsburgh. Tony's parents were hard working laborers and set high standards for him as he was growing up. They expected Tony to be successful, but—more importantly—they taught him that hard work was the key to success in any field, and they set high standards when it came to establishing a work ethic. No shortcuts were allowed (or accepted)!

As far as Tony's parents were concerned, success and hard work went hand-in-hand. It is no surprise that Tony grew to expect those same things from himself throughout his career: He expected to be successful AND he expected it to be difficult to achieve that success. Tony was determined that whatever he chose to do in life better be something that he would enjoy . . . because he was going to be doing it for a long time . . . and giving it his all!

When it came time for me to make a career decision – at least early in his high school career – Tony gravitated toward playing football and performing music. Tony's father would constantly tell him that his lifelong career would be either in sports or music. Basically, those were his two options, and both involved performing at high levels to be successful.

After a failed attempt at a journalism career (Tony had thoroughly enjoyed writing for the local newspaper as a junior reporter at both his high school and college newspapers), Tony's old high school football coach encouraged him to coach alongside him and learn the ropes of the coaching profession. Tony's coach explained that coaching would require Tony to go back to school to get his teaching credential, so Tony did just that...went back to school to learn to teach and started coaching football on his high school football coach's staff.

Forty-five years later, Tony is still coaching . . . and loving every minute of it.

Over the past four-and-a-half decades, Tony has been teaching, leading, assisting, performing, and researching the concept of winning. He has coached every position on the football field at the high school and college level. He has coordinated and led groups on both sides of the ball. Over the course of his career, Tony has led teams as a head coach for 17 years, and he has repeatedly achieved championship level success. Tony has been selected to serve as the head coach in an All-Star Game and assist in 11 other All-Star games in three different states. He has also been awarded the distinction of Coach of the Year.

Tony currently serves as the Special Teams Coordinator and Mental Trainer of the Silverado High School Varsity football team in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is an active member of the National High School Coaches Association and the American Football Coaches Association. In the past, Tony has also been a member of the Southern California High School Coaches Association.
